What's Up For Next Month

Thanks for stopping by to see what is on our schedule for the month ahead!
This will be a re-occuring monthly post that will post on the last Friday of each month to allow our DEST artists to link up below to their blog post that shows what is going on in their studio & schedule for the month ahead.

This is what is going to happen in March on the DEST Blog:
March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2011: Treasury Tuesdays
March 4, 2011: First Friday Art Walk On Etsy.com
March 11 & 18, 2011: DEST Featured Artist Friday*
March 30, 2011: What's Up For Next Month

*DEST Featured Artist Friday is a new post that we are gathering information for & we would like to hear your suggestions on questions we could ask the artist that you would like to read about (put it in the comments below). Artists please go to our DEST Members page for the discussion on it to see how to be featured & add suggestions to topics.

Also, anyone is welcome to link up and participate in the Treasury Tuesdays here on the DEST blog as long as your treasury includes one item from a DEST member (click for details).
DEST members are asked to use "delawareteam" or "deteam" for one of their item tags.
How do you make a treasury on Etsy? Here is our input.

Etsy's First Friday Art Walk is open to any Etsy Seller.
Just use "firstfridayartwalk" as one of your tags and you will be included.
There will also be a post here for the DEST members to link up their etsy shop if you are participating in the event.

We look forward to hearing from you! Thanks…

Ideas for DEST Graphics for Team Use

One goal I would like to achieve here very shortly is updated images for team use.
Actually it would be nice to have a few images that we can add as photos to our blogs with active links:

1. Delaware Etsy Street Team Blog
http://destreet.blogspot.com/

2. Delaware Etsy Street Team Member Page
http://www.etsy.com/teams/5261/delaware-etsy-street-team

3. Delaware Etsy Street Team Shop Avatar & Banner
http://www.etsy.com/people/DelawareStreetTeam

4. New Header for Blog (I like the current one, but we will need consistency with an update).

I took the above image over to picnik.com and added this frame to it…

With just a few clicks I came up with this…

It needs work…
My brain automatically translates this image into a cross-stitched image (thanks mom!)
And I do not consider myself a graphic designer by any means...
So, if we have a team member that is good with graphics (either on the computer, painting, drawing, etc). Would you be interested in helping out?
We could put the entries together for a team vote…

You can use that black and white image at the top or this Black and White State of DE Profile Outline.
If you can come up with something different that translates the goal - go for it!

I would ask that we have the following "goal" parameters:
  1. Easy to Read Font. Some square images will be reduced in size for actual use, so larger and clean are key.
  2. Categories:
    1. Blog square photo 300x300, Blog rectangle header 150 high x700 long (current is 150 high x 711 long to be exact). Although I really like the current blog header...
    2. SquareTeam Avatar for Etsy Members Page 200 x 200 & Banner 100 high x 760 long.
Would love some feedback, suggestions, cool websites that we can use (like picnik) for free, etc.

For now, if you want to use this image for your blog, here it is smaller:

200 x 200:

150 x 150:
*If you blog with blogger, here is how you use this image:

  1. Click on the above image in the size you want it.
  2. Copy the web address for the direct photo URL.
  3. Go To your blog and add a photo gadget.
  4. Click to get your photo from the URL and paste that address you had copied in there.
  5. The photo gadget allows you to put a title description and link. Our suggestions:
    1. Delaware Etsy Street Team Blog
    2. A place to keep up with the community of Delaware Etsy Artists

Delaware Team Members in Treasuries

Posted by Marsha Neal Studio

Here are some Etsy Treasuries are created by Individual DEST members, including myself.
My Treasury features work from members of our Delaware Etsy Street Team…

So what do you think so far?

Do you want to create a treasury featuring DEST members?
Are you unsure how to do it? I was. But then I just tried it…

I think I may be addicted to creating Treasuries it if time allows:
Step 1: Click HERE to start your new treasury page.
Step 2: I found it easiest to have multiple tabs open for:
  1. For Treasury Page
  2. For DEST Etsy Shop: specifically the Favorites Page
Step 3: After finding photos of pieces I really liked and though went well together (knowing they would all be DEST member items made it easier to narrow down), I looked at my collection and though about what the items meant to me - what they might mean to someone looking at the overall treasury. The title is what I thought their story should be called. The description - short like a little love poem.
Step 4: How to get it out there:
  1. Use the social media gadgets on the finished Treasury Page (Twitter, Facebook, etc).
  2. Blog about it, create a link to it (post it on the DEST Etsy Page discussions so I can post it up here). I may eventually create an inlinkz gadget for you to use on a DEST blog post that can occur at scheduled times.
  3. If you want to create a pic of your treasury for your blog, etc: click HERE.
    1. My Widget Settings Above: Large, Snapshot.
  4. Then click on over to fellow DEST member: Aquariann's Art & Tree Chatter Blog and list your treasury up on her Treasury Tuesday Post.
Leave Feedback Please!
I would love to know what you think about this all so far…
Input is key to helping this team thrive (also - click on the treasuries and share, share, share the links to them!)

A Note From The Captain...

Breathing New Life Into Our Team:
My Thoughts About My New Position And Changes On The Horizon…

Our Team, this Blog, our Etsy Community: they are like a garden. All individual entities… They will grow immensely if tended and nurtured. Any weeds and invasive efforts will be pulled so the general good can grow. Left alone it will eventually deteriorate…
So let's all keep things positive, light hearted and help each other out.

If you are overwhelmed, take some time off. You can still keep your items listed with the "DelawareTeam" tags.

If you are lost, reach out (reach in the right direction - discussions on the group page, our group FB page, the captain or other members…).

My brain is on overload, I am hardly sleeping, I have so many ideas - I just can't turn it off…
I think once this period of re-organization and focusing is done, events lined up, and getting Artist & Customer feedback, we should have smooth sailing.

So keep checking back here, the FB page and the Discussions on the Main Delaware Etsy Street Team page.
